      PGIP - MA/LLM (Insolvency)

      General Information

      • The two-year Post Graduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP) – MA/LLM is a specialised academic programme in insolvency and restructuring offered by National Law University Delhi (NLUD).
      • The PGIP Certification is issued and authorised by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI).
      • A separate Master of Arts (MA) / Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Insolvency is awarded by National Law University Delhi (NLUD).

      Admission Process

      • All candidates seeking admission to this program must appear for the All India Entrance Test (AIET).

      Program Highlights

      • This specialised two-year programme offers a structured pathway to becoming an Insolvency Professional (IP) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016.

      • It reduces the professional experience requirement mandated by the IBC from 10–15 years to 2 years through this academic route.

      • The curriculum integrates legal, financial, and practical training through case-based teaching, workshops, simulations, and interactions with judges, regulators, and insolvency professionals.

      • The classroom instruction and internship components follow the UGC and IBBI-prescribed PGIP guidelines, ensuring full regulatory alignment for professional eligibility.

      Post-Completion Benefits

      • According to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Insolvency Professionals) Regulations of 2016 (Amended up to 18-09-2023), under Chapter III, Regulation 5:

        Subject to the other provisions of these regulations, an individual shall be eligible for registration, if he
        (c) has- (ii) successfully completed the [Post] Graduate Insolvency Program, as may approved by the Board;

        Upon successfully completing the 2-year Post Graduate Insolvency Program (PGIP)- Master of Arts (MA) / Master of Laws (LLM) Degree in Insolvency program and passing the Limited Insolvency Examination, candidates will become eligible for registration as Insolvency Professionals without the need to accumulate the previously required 10 years of professional experience.

      Eligibility

      • Candidates who have completed a basic professional course such as company secretary, chartered accountancy, cost accountancy, or law, or bachelor’s in technology or bachelor’s in engineering or a post-graduate with a major in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Management or Insolvency with aggregate 50% marks.
      • The total number of seats for the program is 40.

      Admission Process

      • All candidates should appear for the All India Entrance Test (AIET) and selection shall be solely on that basis.
      • To be eligible to appear for admission to the PGIP – MA/LLM Degree in Insolvency, a candidate should have completed professional courses such as Company Secretary, Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy, or Law or bachelor’s in technology or Bachelor’s engineering or post-graduate with a major in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Management or Insolvency with aggregate 50% marks.
      • Candidates appearing/awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also apply and appear in the Entrance Test. However, the eligibility of such candidates shall have to be obtained by the cut-off date, which will be notified along with the Notification of Entrance Test result, and in case such a candidate is placed in a compartment in the year of the admission, they would be treated as ineligible.
      • The maximum age limit for enrollment shall be 28 years.
