The Centre for Research and Innovation and Justice T.P.S. Chawla Library, NLUD, organized a workshop on “Publishing in the Era of AI: A Perspective from Springer Nature” on 30 September 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Moot Court Hall, NLUD. The workshop was designed to provide critical insights into the evolving landscape of academic publishing, the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence, and the ethical considerations in scholarly communication.
The session was graced by eminent speakers: Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, NLUD, Ms. Nupoor Singh, Senior Editor, Springer Nature, Mr. Kunj Verma, Publishing Expert and Dr. Priya Rai, University Librarian, NLUD. In his inaugural address, Prof. G.S. Bajpai highlighted the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on academia and legal scholarship. He emphasized that while AI-driven tools have immense potential to enhance efficiency and broaden access to knowledge, researchers must remain vigilant in preserving ethical standards, originality, and the integrity of scholarship.
Ms. Nupoor Singh, representing Springer Nature, provided an in-depth overview of contemporary publishing practices, including AI-enabled peer review systems, data analysis tools, and editorial workflows. She drew attention to Springer Nature’s initiatives in maintaining transparency and accountability in AI-assisted publishing. Mr. Kunj Verma elaborated on the practical aspects of publishing in high-impact journals, guiding students and faculty on manuscript preparation, submission strategies, and avoiding predatory publishing outlets. Dr. Priya Rai contextualized the discussion within the Indian academic ecosystem, underlining the need for young researchers to balance technological innovation with ethical responsibility. She also spoke about the role of academic libraries in equipping students and scholars with digital literacy and research integrity skills.
The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from LL.M. students, Ph.D. scholars, and faculty members. The interactive Q&A session enabled participants to engage directly with the experts on pressing issues such as plagiarism detection, AI-generated content policies, and future trends in global publishing. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Samar I. Bakhshi, Deputy Librarian, NLUD, expressing gratitude to the distinguished speakers and Springer Nature for their collaboration. The workshop proved to be an enriching academic exercise, fostering awareness of ethical publishing in the digital era and reinforcing NLUD’s commitment to advancing research integrity and innovation in legal scholarship.
