Day 2 | National Symposium on Principled Criminalisation under the New Criminal Laws

The second day of the Symposium continued the momentum of critical engagement, unpacking how procedural and interpretive frameworks in the new criminal laws align with—or challenge—the principles of justice.

Session 5: Reflections of Principled Criminalisation in the BNSS
i. Re-alignment of powers of agencies
ii. Push for speedy justice delivery
iii. Infusing science and technology orientation to criminal justice

Session 6: Principled Interpretation of the New Criminal Laws
i. Balancing the executive and the judicial powers in reading principles in the new laws
ii. Extra-legal influences in the application of the principles
iii. Trends of breakdown of the rule of law and the constitutional order
