ACU INDIA FORUM (Delhi)

National Law University Delhi in collaboration with The Association of Commonwealth Universities hosted the ACU India Forum at the National Law University Delhi campus.
The focus of this forum was to discuss the issue of Teaching Shortages affecting several Indian universities and covered various aspects and solutions related to it. The forum covered the following:
Highlight the issue of teaching shortages
Discuss how this is playing out at Indian universities
Discuss what is needed to address teaching shortages
Highlight what the ACU can do to support this at Indian Universities
The New Delhi Agenda included:
Welcome Address by: Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, VC, NLU Delhi
Opening Remarks by: Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General, AIU
Moderations to Discussions by: Mr. Aditya Malkani, South Asia Representative, ACU & Prof. Sabu Padmadas, Associated Dean International, University of Southampton
Presentations from ACU non-Indian members in attendance – reflecting on how they are using online/blended learning at their universities. Their experiences were pertinent in helping shape the discussions going forward. The non-Indian members joining at the New Delhi Forum were:
a) University of Southampton – Professor Martine Dyke, Head of Southampton Education School
b) City, University of London – Dr. Steven Truxal, Associate Dean International, The City Law School
Around 20 participants from various leading public and private universities attended the forum.
Background of ACU:
The ACU has extensive experience and expertise in developing and implementing programmes to address academic faculty shortages at Universities across the Commonwealth. The intention is that following on from the forum(s), the ACU will then design a programme of work which can support the needs of our Indian members, with the involvement of non-Indian members.
