A two-day National Conference on “Challenges Posed by Artificial Intelligence” was organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs in collaboration with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar and National Law University, Delhi on 17th to 18th October, 2024.

The conference aimed to deliberate on the opportunities and risks AI brings to various sectors, particularly in the fields of security, law, and governance. The inauguration ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries, including Mrs. S. Sundari Nanda, Special Secretary (Internal Security), MHA; Shri Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Director General of the BPR&D; Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MEITY; Shri Abhijit Sinha, Joint Secretary, MHA; and Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor, NFSU, who collectively emphasized the importance of this conference in shaping the future of AI in security, law enforcement, and governance.

The session titled ‘Challenges in Regulation of AI’ was chaired by Prof. (Dr) G. S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, NLU Delhi. Dr. Aparajita Bhatt, Associate Professor & Director, Centre for Cyber laws, NLU Delhi chaired the session tiled ‘Legal framework of AI in Other Jurisdictions’. The conference was attended by senior officials and LEAs from across the country. On this day, a Compendium on Global Artificial Intelligence Laws and Regulations developed by Centre for Cyber Laws, National Law University Delhi was officially released, offering a valuable resource for Global country-wise regulations on AI.
