Next-gen Lawyers to strengthen justice tradition: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta
National Law University Delhi, in collaboration with Think India, successfully concluded the 1st National Trial Advocacy Competition with its Valedictory Ceremony held on 9th August 2026 at the Moot Court Hall, NLU Delhi.
The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest, Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi.
The Chief Guest, Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi, delivered her address on the “Principles of Governance and Intersection of Law”, highlighting the critical role of legal frameworks in effective governance and emphasizing the responsibility of young legal professionals to apply their academic knowledge for the welfare of society and contribute towards the vision of a developed India.
The programme commenced with the arrival of dignitaries and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a comprehensive report of the competition outlining its structure, participation, and key highlights. The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, NLU Delhi, who reflected on the significance of trial advocacy in shaping future legal professionals.
The programme also featured an address by Shri Ashish Chauhan, National Organizing Secretary, ABVP, who spoke on the role of youth as future guardians of rights.
The ceremony culminated with the Prize Distribution, celebrating the achievements of the participants. The Winners of the competition were National Law Institute University, Bhopal, followed by the Runners-Up from the University of Rajasthan. The award for Best Memorial was secured by Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, while the Best Speaker award was conferred upon Ms. Mansi Dadhich from the National Forensic Sciences University.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Risham Garg, Registrar, NLU Delhi, followed by the National Anthem, marking the successful completion of the competition.
The Valedictory Ceremony served as a fitting conclusion to the competition, celebrating excellence, dedication, and the spirit of advocacy among emerging legal professionals.
