Panel Discussion on Data Protection Bill 2019

A panel discussion on Data Protection Bill 2019 was co-organized by the Centre for Cyber Laws and the Centre for Communication Governance at National Law University, Delhi on Saturday, 30tH January 2021. The main theme of the panel discussion was discussion over the recent changes in the WhatsApp privacy policy and its implications under the Personal Data Protection Bill 2019, the non-personal data and online surveillance done by government and non-government bodies. The expert panellists who presented their views were Dr. Gulshan Rai, Former National Cyber Coordinator of India, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Krishnaswamy, Vice-Chancellor, NLSIU, Bangalore, Sh. Vijayashankar Nagaraj Rao, Chairman, Foundation of Data Protection Professionals of India and Ms. Rama Vedashree, CEO, Data Security Council of India. The moderator of the session was Ms. Kritika Agrawal, Advocate-on-record, Supreme Court of India.
Dr. Aparajita Bhatt, Director, Centre for Cyber Laws welcomed the panellists and the guests. Prof.(Dr.) Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice- Chancellor, NLUD delivered the introductory address. Vote of Thanks was given by Smitha Krishna Prasad, Director, Centre for Communication Governance.
