Professor (Law)
Dr. Sushila is Professor of Law at National Law University Delhi, where she also serves as Director of the Centre for Study of Consumer Law & Policy and holds the Consumer Law Chair established by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India. She is also Chairperson of the University’s Internal Committee constituted under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

Teaching
Dr. Sushila teaches Law of Torts, Consumer Law, Property Law, and Professional Ethics. She convenes the Consumer Clinic (Legal Aid and Services) and offers an Honours course in Criminal Law addressing the PoSH Act. Her areas of interest include Competition Law, Gender Laws, Regulatory Governance, and Public Policy.
Career
Dr. Sushila joined NLU Delhi in 2009. Prior to this, she taught at the Campus Law Centre and Law Centre-1 of the University of Delhi.
Contribution to Law and Policy
Dr. Sushila has contributed substantially to the development of consumer law and policy in India. She served as a member of the Committee for Drafting Rules under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and has advised on a range of contemporary consumer protection concerns, including dark patterns, misleading advertisements, fake reviews, greenwashing, consumer cyber awareness, the right to repair, mediation, online dispute resolution, and consumer safety.
She is a member of the Task Force on Protecting Consumers Against Dark Patterns in E-commerce, the Joint Working Group constituted by the Government of India to address dark patterns on e-commerce platforms, and the Task Force on Consumer Awareness of Cyber Security and Growing Cybercrimes.

Dr. Sushila has led several major research and institutional projects:

Academic Engagement and Outreach
Dr. Sushila has delivered lectures on consumer law, sexual harassment law, criminal law, business law, and gender justice at leading institutions, including the IIMs, National Law Universities, the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST), Lok Sabha Secretariat, Parliament of India, and Central and State Universities. She has published extensively in reputed journals and presented her research at national and international academic forums, including in the United States, the Netherlands, and Brazil.
As Chairperson of the Internal Committee at NLU Delhi, apart from discharging quasi-judicial adjudicatory functions, she conducts training and sensitisation programmes on workplace sexual harassment, gender justice, and PoSH compliance, and has participated in stakeholder consultations on women’s rights, gender justice, the PoSH Act, and related public policy reforms.
She has served as an editor, peer reviewer, and member of curriculum development committees at various institutions. In 2012, she was invited by the National Institute of Open Schooling as an expert to develop the Senior Secondary course “An Introduction to Law”.
Dr. Sushila has organised capacity-building and certificate programmes for Consumer Commission members, National Consumer Helpline personnel, Voluntary Consumer Organisations, and allied stakeholders. She has been invited as a keynote speaker and Guest of Honour at numerous national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars.
