Dr. Garima Tiwari
Associate Professor
Dr. Garima Tiwari holds a PhD from School of Law, University of Camerino, Italy where she was awarded full scholarship for her research on the domestic effects of international law. During her PhD, she spent research periods at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Faculty of Law, University of Oxford, United Kingdom and Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She has an LLM from University of Torino, Italy in collaboration with United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, Torino, Italy. She also has a Masters in Intellectual Property Law from Indira Gandhi National Open University, India. She completed her BALLB (Hons) from the National Law Institute University, Bhopal where she was awarded the Pundit Ramlalji Sharma Memorial Medal. She is currently a post-doctoral research fellow with the South Ural State University (National Research University) Institute of Law, Russia.
Before joining National Law University, Delhi, she worked as an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean (Research and Consultancy; Admissions and Outreach) at the School of Law, Bennett University. She was the founding faculty at the School of Law, Bennett University and has contributed to its international collaborations. She has also worked at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal and is currently, a member of the Collegio dei Docenti at School of Law, University of Camerino, Italy. As a Senior Researcher with Lexidale-International Policy Consulting, Cambridge/Denmark, she has conducted several comparative law projects.
In 2023, she received a Diploma from the Kalliopi Koufa Foundation for the promotion of International and Human Rights Law on “Women, Gender and International Human Rights Law”. She was awarded the 2016-18 Equality Knowledge Research Grant by the Eastern Michigan University, United States for research on transgender rights. She was also awarded the 2012 JusticeMakers Fellowship by International Bridges to Justice, Switzerland her project on spreading awareness on torture, legal aid and HIV/AIDS in prisons.
She co-founded an online research group AContrario International Criminal law which discusses about global justice issues. She has been co-teaching at the Summer School organised by University of Greenwich, UK, Mitchell Hamline School of Law, USA as well as at the Bradford University, UK. She has delivered lectures at the Washington State Bar Association, USA; Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala; Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak; VV Giri National Labour Institute, New Delhi; Ministry of Culture, New Delhi, NSS College, Pandalam; Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, Kerala among others. She has also conducted workshops for faculty and students in universities and schools on The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
She has several publications to her name and has presented her work at many national and international conferences at Australia, Greece, Taiwan, Sweden, Italy, Russia, and UK among others. At NLU Delhi, she is teaching Legal Methods to undergraduate students and International Human Rights Law to the postgraduate students.
