Dr. Amita Punj

Associate Professor

Dr. Amita Punj teaches Jurisprudence and Legal Methods. Over the years she has also taught Research Methodology, Law and Poverty and Human Rights. For more than a decade she has been lecturing in ‘Sustainable Development and Global Justice’ course which is a part of the Masters Programme (LLM) at the University of Antwerp. Before getting into academia Amita worked with the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) and Partners for Law in Development (PLD) engaging with issues of human rights and gender justice.

Dr. Amita Punj is the Director for the Centre for Law, Justice and Development (CLJD) at NLU Delhi. The Centre has been specifically working on the rights of the marginalised through empirical research, policy interventions, training and creation of resource materials of diverse kinds. Since its establishment in 2018 the Centre has collaborated with the Ministry of External Affairs, Department of Justice,theNational Commission for Women etc. for international engagement, policy work and legal awareness and outreach activities. CLJD is also part of the Law and Development Research Network (LDRN).
