National Law University Delhi Welcomes New Batch of B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) 2023 In its ‘Deeksharambh’ Student Induction Programme

July 23, 2023, New Delhi:  National Law University Delhi today organised its Student Induction Programme “Deeksharambh” to welcome its newly admitted batch of B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) students. Ms. Atishi, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, NLU Delhi, in his welcome address, talked about the importance of Indian constitutional values and encouraged the students to imbibe them over the course of the next five years of their stay at the University.

“The core values of the Preamble of the Indian constitution must be imbibed by all law students. For a law university, nothing can be more relevant than the values enshrined in the Indian constitution. The Constitution will remain the guiding light for students not only in their studies but throughout their professional career,” Professor Bajpai said.

Ms. Atishi in her address recalled her college days, and described University life as a “transitional phase” in which a student transitions between childhood and adulthood. The University offers a “unique learning phase as college students get to experience adulthood without the actual responsibilities that come with it.”

Talking about responsibilities, she reminded students that they should acknowledge the sacrifices of the parents and the contributions of the society in giving them quality education and the opportunity to study in one of the premier law schools in the country. “After five years, your aim should be to give back to the society by contributing towards making the country better, just and equal,” she said.

Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur, Registrar, NLU Delhi introduced the distinguished faculty members to the newly inducted students followed by an Open House session where the students were called on the stage by Professor Bajpai to talk about their aspirations, dreams and expectations from the coming five years of their law degree.

The ceremony was attended by the students accompanied by their parents. This year NLU Delhi inducted a batch of 123 students, drawn from all over the country.

During the ceremony, a video documenting the journey, history and achievements of the university was also played for the benefit of students. Details of academic & examination rules, hostel and campus regulations was also given to students at the end of the ceremony.
