Chair on Justice for Children
in collaboration with UNICEF
On August 18, 2025, the NLUD Chair on Justice for Children was established in collaboration with UNICEF in pursuance of the twin objectives of building knowledge and strengthening practice around access to justice for children in India.
As its first, and pilot, initiative, the Chair will run the NLUD-UNICEF Justice for Children Fellowship, a one-year flagship program for young graduates committed to research and litigation specifically on issues surrounding access to justice for children in need of care and protection, and children in conflict with the law. The Fellowship will take on 4 research fellows and 4 litigation fellows towards fulfilling the following goals:
- Building a body of well-researched and accessible scholarship on issues of child rights within the Indian criminal justice system.
- Providing high quality legal representation to children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with the law.
- Contributing to child rights advocacy in India by mentoring young child rights researchers and lawyers.
