The National Law University Delhi proudly hosted the book release titled ‘Administration of Justice in Ancient India’, authored by late Prof. (Dr.) S. D. Sharma, Former Dean and Head, Department of Law, Kurukshetra University, on Sunday, 3rd November 2019, at 10.30 A.M., in the Justice Y. K. Sabharwal Moot Court Hall, NLU Delhi.
Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University Delhi, who has written the Afterword of the book, delivered the welcome address. Prof. Singh shared fond memories of late Prof. Sharma, who he refers to as guruji, and talked about his affection for him. He gave entire credit of his professional success to late Dr. Sharma.
Dr. Ajay Krishna Vishvesha, District & Sessions Judge, Sitapur, UP, son of late Dr. Sharma, illustrated his father’s biographical sketch and talked about his achievements and attributes as an academician.
Prof. (Dr.) M. P. Singh, Former Director, NUJS Kolkata, and presently Visiting Professor, NLUD, released the book along with the other dignitaries gracing the dais. He delivered the address highlighting glimpses of the book, emphasising on its importance to the law students and for members of the Bar and Bench. Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, MNLU Nagpur was also present on this occasion.
HMJ A. K. Sikri, Judge, Singapore International Commercial Court and Former Justice, Supreme Court of India could not join due to certain emergency issues. The Introduction to the book penned down by him was read out by Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Gupta, in his absence.
Other legal academia and dignitaries present included Prof. (Dr.) K. D. Rao, VC, NLU Odisha; Prof. M. Afzal Wani, GGSIPU, Dwarka, New Delhi; and Prof. (Dr.) V. K. Ahuja, Law Faculty, DU.
The family members of late Prof. (Dr.) S. D. Sharma namely his grandsons Archit Vishvesha and Archisman Vishvesha with his wife; and his granddaughter Chhaya were also present at the event. The Faculty, administrative staff, students of NLU Delhi and the publishers of the book, Mr. Vinay Ahuja, Mohan Law House, were also present at the book release.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Gupta.
