Annual Survey of Empirical Legal Research 2025 (31st December, 2025)

I am pleased to share the Annual Survey of Empirical Legal Research 2025, an academic publication undertaken as a scholarly endeavour of National Law University Delhi (NLUD) Centre for Research and Innovation through its research and publication ecosystem.
The Survey represents a systematic and original effort to document, analyse, and map the landscape of empirical legal research reflected in law journals published in India. Conceived to strengthen evidence-based legal scholarship and promote methodological rigour, it offers a multi-faceted analysis of research trends, thematic coverage, empirical methods, patterns, and publication practices emerging from Indian law journals published in 2024.
This publication serves as a valuable reference for legal academics, researchers, institutions, and policymakers, and seeks to encourage wider engagement with empirical methods while fostering a culture of data-driven and socially responsive legal inquiry across Indian law schools and research institutions.
I hope it will be of relevance to faculty members, research scholars, and students, and will contribute meaningfully to ongoing discourse on legal research and publication standards in India.
