      Dr. Dwijiri Ramchiary

      Assistant Professor (Sociology)

      Dr. Dwijiri Ramchiary is an Assistant Professor of Sociology. Her academic work engages with questions of gender, law, crime, ethnicity, and science.

       

      Prior to her current position, Dr Ramchiary taught at National Law University, Delhi for one year. She also worked as a Research Consultant at the Centre for Women’s Development Studies (ICSSR supported), New Delhi, for one year and eleven months, where she contributed to research and academic initiatives concerning contemporary social issues.

       

      Dr Ramchiary completed her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi, and pursued her M.Phil. and PhD in Sociology at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her academic training has provided her with a strong foundation in sociological theory and interdisciplinary research.

       

      Her research and publications explore issues at the intersection of the sociology of gender, law, crime, ethnicity, and science. Her work critically examines how social identities, institutions, legal structures, and systems of knowledge shape lived experiences and social relations. She has presented her research at reputable national academic platforms and has been invited to serve as a panellist for a panel discussion.

       

      Her teaching interests include Introduction to Sociology, Sociological Theory, Sociology of Law, and Sociology of Crime. Through her teaching and research, she introduces students to diverse sociological perspectives while encouraging critical engagement with contemporary social and institutional questions.
