NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY DELHI CELEBRATES SECOND DAY OF 13TH CONVOCATION FOR LL.M. PROGRAMMES
National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) celebrated the second day of its 13th Convocation for graduating scholars of its LL.M. programmes on 30 August 2026, marking another milestone in academic excellence and leadership in legal education.
The ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Chief Guest; Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vivek Chaudhary, Judge, Delhi High Court and Chancellor’s Nominee, NLU Delhi; and Hon’ble Mr. Justice O. P. Shukla, Judge, Delhi High Court. Distinguished judges, jurists, academic leaders, statutory-body members, faculty, staff, graduating scholars and families also attended.
In his Welcome Address, Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, NLU Delhi, said Convocation is not an ending but a threshold into professional responsibility. He acknowledged the sacrifices of families, teachers, friends and the University, and urged graduates to embrace critical thinking, ethical judgment, humility, empathy, resilience and lifelong learning for AI-driven and unpredictable futures. He stressed that law schools must also nurture academics, researchers, policy thinkers and knowledge creators who develop jurisprudence, challenge injustice and advance law for society.
A total of 189 postgraduate degrees were conferred across the LL.M. programmes. 08 medals and 04 cash prizes recognised academic excellence and distinguished achievements. Prof. (Dr.) Risham Garg, Professor of Law and Registrar, announced the awards, presented by the dignitaries.
Delivering the Convocation Address, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan congratulated the graduates, families, teachers and NLU Delhi. He urged future lawyers to view law as a life devoted to justice, integrity and courage, and called for consideration of distinguished jurists for Supreme Court appointment under Article 124(3). He emphasised independent thought, questioning and respectful debate, noting that tolerance, dissent and disagreement are constitutional values essential to democracy, while liberty, equality, dignity and justice must guide legal professionals.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vivek Chaudhary declared the Convocation open, conferred the degrees and subsequently dissolved the Convocation.
NLU Delhi congratulated the Class of 2026 and reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing legal professionals, researchers and scholars guided by justice, integrity, ethical responsibility and service to society.
