80th Independence Day at National Law University Delhi
National Law University Delhi celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with patriotic fervour, cultural vibrancy, and enthusiastic participation from students, staff, NCC cadets, NSS Volunteers, faculty, and their families.
The celebrations commenced at the University Amphitheatre with the Flag Hoisting Ceremony by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Bajpai, followed by the National Anthem. The NCC cadets and NSS Volunteers added to the dignity and ceremonial spirit of the occasion.
The programme continued at the Auditorium with the traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony, followed by the Vice-Chancellor’s address to the University community.
Following the Vice-Chancellor’s address, the NCC cadets were felicitated in recognition of their participation and contribution.
The cultural programme showcased the creativity and diversity of NLUD students through patriotic musical performances, three thematic skits, solo and semi-classical dance performances, and a vibrant group dance. The skits brought together powerful themes of patriotism, social values, and national consciousness, presented through the talent and expression of the students.
A distinctive highlight of the celebration was the Multilingual Nationalistic Poetry Presentation, which celebrated India’s rich linguistic heritage through poetry in 14 Indian languages—Bundeli, Hindi, Kannada, Maithili, Malayalam, Marwadi, Mizo, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Telugu, Urdu, and Vajjika. The presentation beautifully reflected the country’s linguistic plurality and the spirit of Unity in Diversity.
Adding to the warmth of the occasion, children of NLUD faculty and staff also participated in the cultural programme, further strengthening the University’s sense of community.
The programme concluded with remarks by the Registrar, Prof. Risham Garg, followed by the Vote of Thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Prasannanshu and the National Anthem.
Through music, theatre, dance, and poetry, the celebration reaffirmed the University’s commitment to the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality, fraternity, and dignity.
