      NLU Delhi’s Contribution to the Report of the Joint Committee on the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, Submitted Before Parliament on 3rd August 2026

      It is to bring on record the contribution of National Law University Delhi to the Report of the Joint Committee on the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill 2026, which was submitted before both the Houses of Parliament on 3rd August 2026. The Joint Committee comprising of 31 Hon’ble members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, was constituted under the Chairmanship of Shri Sudheer Gupta, Hon’ble Member of Parliament. The Bill was introduced in Lok Sabha on 23.03.2026.

      The Committee had invited Sr. Prof (Dr) G. S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, National Law University Delhi, to present the University’s views and participate in discussions on the provisions of the Bill, before the Joint Committee on the Bill. The meeting was held on 10th July 2026 at the Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi. National Law University Delhi submitted suggestions on the proposed Bill, along with detailed responses to the queries raised by the Committee. The research underpinning the University’s submissions was carried out by Dr. Aparajita Bhatt, Dr. Abha Yadav, Aswin Shankar, Parth Khanna, Divyansh Mittal, Aakriti Maurya, and Rishika Chaudhary.

      It is a matter of great pride for the University that the suggestions given by the University were considered, deliberated, incorporated and some have been accepted by the Joint Committee in its the final report which was laid down before both the houses of Parliament. The University’s contribution has been acknowledged on page No 7 of the Final report submitted to the Parliament. The suggestions given by the University on different provisions of the Bill have been considered on the following page numbers of the JPC’s final report:

      2. Page no 20- Clause 3 of the Bill
      3. Page no 63- Clause 10 of the Bill
      4. Page no 65- Clause 10 of the Bill
      5. Page no 350- Clause 41 of the Bill
      6. Page no 452- Clause 51 of the Bill
