Yale GJP and RIS Panel Discussion (November 13, 2021)

Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) – a New Delhi–based autonomous policy research institute – organized a webinar on ‘Indian Perspectives on Innovation Incentives: Health Impact Fund and GIFT’ as part of the 2021 Annual Global Justice Program Conference at Yale University. The webinar was conducted on 13th November, 2021.  

 

Panellist Dr Yogesh Pai, Assistant Professor, National Law University Delhi, discussed the Health Impact Fund, its implementation in India and its effect on India’s IP & Innovation policy. He addressed several benefits and challenges of the Impact Fund. He also discussed health R&D and innovation landscape in India.

 

Prof. Thomas Pogge, Leitner Professor of Philosophy & International Affairs, Yale University, gave the welcome address & opening remarks. Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi, Director General, RIS chaired the Panel Discussion. Other panellists on the webinar were: Dr Bhaskar Balakrishnan, Science Diplomacy Fellow, RIS, Mr R.R. Rashmi, Distinguished Fellow, TERI, Ms Leena Menghaney, Global IP Advisor & Regional Head, MSF Access Campaign, Mr S. Srinivasan, Managing Trustee, Low-Cost Standard Therapeutics, India. Dr Krishna Ravi Srinivas, Senior Fellow & Consultant, RIS, gave the closing remarks and Vote of Thanks.
