In light of PM Modi’s launch of Viksit Bharat@2047, an event was held on 11.12.2023, at Rajniwas – the Office-cum-Residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, where Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, NLU Delhi was invited as a Panel Speaker to share his ideas for developing a national vision.
In sync with exhortation of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Sh. Narendra Modi, to share out-of-the-box ideas and thinking for the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, Prof. G.S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, NLU Delhi suggested that the inclusion of the idea of ‘Happiness’ be made an integral part of the overall planning and development of Bharat.
It was emphasised by Prof. Bajpai that it is significant to include social indicators and psychological well-being of citizens in the new development index of India. Prof. Bajpai highlighted as to how merely materialistic development has failed to generate happiness in many countries. He further presented the index of happiness in measurable terms and proposed the addition of theme ‘Happy India, Empowered India’ as the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, which was discussed in detail during the event.
The event was Chaired by Sh. Vinay Kumar Saxena, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Delhi. The event was graced by Sh. Naresh Kumar, Chief Secretary, Govt. of NCT of Delhi; Ms. R. Alice Vaz, Secretary, Higher Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and by several Vice-Chancellors of various universities located in the premises of NCT of Delhi with faculty members.
Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor requested all the participants to explore and submit ideas to encourage and involve more students and faculty members to contribute towards Viksit Bharat@2047 vision and a meeting will be held in a week’s time to review and finalize the idea.
