GIAN Course on “Comparative Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law” (February 27 – March 10, 2023)

National Law University, Delhi under the GIAN scheme of Ministry of Education, Government of India successfully organized a 10-day Course on “Comparative Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law”, from 27th February to 10th March 2023 at NLUD. The course was delivered by Professor Rebecca Parry, Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University, UK, and Dr. Risham Garg, Associate Professor of Law at the National Law University Delhi.

The course was attended by 30 participants including students, research scholars, academicians and practitioners.

Over the span of 10 days, there were sessions along with mid-term assessment and final assessment of the participants on the following sessions:

1.     Nature and incidence of insolvency and bankruptcy

2.     Moratorium under laws in India & UK

3.     Liquidation & priority of payment in India & UK

4.     Resolving insolvency in India

5.     Impact of insolvency in executory contracts in UK

6.     Avoidance transactions in India & UK

7.     Non-implementation of resolution plan

8.     Treatment of workers and employees in India & UK

9.     Resolution of personal guarantors to corporate

10.  International & Cross Border insolvency

The valedictory session took place on 10th March, 2023 with the concluding remarks given by Prof. M. S. Sahoo, distinguished Professor, NLUD followed by Vote of Thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur, Professor & Registrar at NLUD
