Fast Fashion, Traditional Textiles, and Intellectual Property (9th April, 2025)

Fast Fashion, Traditional Textiles, and Intellectual Property

We are delighted to share that the Centre for Innovation, Intellectual Property and Competition (CIIPC) – IPR Chair at NLU Delhi recently hosted a thought-provoking presentation titled “Fast Fashion, Traditional Textiles, and Intellectual Property” by Ms. Niharika Salar.

Ms. Salar delved into the intricate relationship between fast fashion and traditional artisan communities, drawing from her ongoing PhD research on the Khatri community weavers of Bhuj, Gujarat, she highlighted the pivotal role of Intellectual Property such as Geographical Indications (GIs), community rights and the rising challenges in light of mass-production of fashion.

Her presentation was insightful, accessible, and sparked a lively, interactive discussion with the audience.

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Salar for leading such an engaging and enriching session.
