Mr. Garv Malhotra

Garv is an international disputes lawyer & Indian litigator who helps clients avoid and resolve disputes. He is best known for his work on arbitration, commercial laws and public laws. He represents individuals, companies and families in complex and high-stake situations.

Garv started his career by practicing as a counsel before the Supreme Court of India. Thereafter, he moved overseas to gain practical and academic experience in Geneva, Paris, The Hague and Singapore. He worked and trained at leading disputes law firms globally before becoming a founding member of the Indian boutique firm, Skywards Law where he acts as lead and supporting counsel in commercial matters before the Supreme Court of India, various high courts and arbitration tribunals.

He leads the International Business, Arbitration and Litigation practice of Skywards Law where he appears for clients before various institutions in India and internationally. He also provides advice on navigating the legal complexities of business.

Garv has been trained by practice leaders in multiple jurisdictions. He has substantial experience with laws relating to companies, construction, maritime, hospitality, aviation, technology and energy sectors. He has conducted matters for individuals, companies, and state-owned entities involving the laws of various countries; under UNCITRAL, SIAC, ICC, PCA, AIAC, LMAA & LCIA rules, as well as ad hoc arbitration. Garv is a certified cross-culture mediator and international negotiator. Among other notable cases, he acted for the Petitioner in the 7-judge bench decision of the Supreme Court of India in the case of In Re: Interplay between the arbitration agreements under the. Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 and the Indian Stamp Act 1899, 2023 INSC 1066.

Garv teaches an advanced intensive course at the National Law University, Delhi (NLUD) titled Practical Aspects of International Arbitration. He has also lectured and taken sessions at universities like National Law School, Bangalore; Gujarat National Law University; and National University of Singapore. Garv regularly speaks at various conferences and is a part of the organizers of the Delhi Arbitration Weekend (DAW) since its inception.

Garv holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Law and Commerce (from Gujarat National Law University; graduating with the GLAS Scholarship for all round excellence); a master’s degree in international dispute resolution (from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies & University of Geneva on a full scholarship) and a second master’s degree in international arbitration from the National University of Singapore (on the Centre for International Law scholarship). He has also read law at Académie de Droit International de La Haye (The Hague Academy of International Law), Netherlands (on the Mayor’s Scholarship), the Paris Academy of Arbitration and the Singapore Investment Arbitration Academy.

Beyond the Law, Garv is a widely travelled language and music enthusiast.
