Enabling Justice for Survivors: A Guide to POCSO Law

 

The Centre for Criminology and Victimology at National Law University Delhi, under the abled guidance of Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Chief Patron & Chairperson, CCV and Vice Chancellor, NLUD organised a guest lecture titled “Enabling Justice for Survivors: A Guide to POCSO Law” by Ms. Avaantika Chawla, Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School and Assistant Director of the Child Rights Clinic. Second year students at NLU Delhi had the opportunity to attend a comprehensive lecture shedding light on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012. The lecture not only elucidated the legal intricacies of the Act but also delved into its historical backdrop, challenges in implementation, procedures for filing complaints, and the ensuing judicial process. A crucial segment of the lecture was devoted to detail procedure for filing complaints under the POCSO Act. Ms. Chawla meticulously outlined the steps involved, emphasizing the paramount importance of sensitivity and confidentiality in handling such cases. The lecture concluded with a vibrant interactive session, where the speaker responded to questions and ideas. The Speaker’s professional experience in matters related to the topic enhanced the understanding of all attendees.
