Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Gupta is a Professor of Law at National Law University Delhi (NLUD) and has got teaching experience of 21 years. She is Research Director of Centre for Business and Financial Laws (CBFL) at NLUD. Prior to joining NLU Delhi, she has taught at University School of Law and Legal Studies (USLLS), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Dwarka, New Delhi and Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS), Pitampura, New Delhi.

Prof. Gupta specialises in Commercial and Business Laws like Law of Contract, Banking Law, Property Law and Competition Law. Her areas of interests include Legal Education and Research, Judicial Process, Interpretation of Statutes and Gender Justice.

She has written two books one on ‘Sexual Harassment at Work Place’ and the other on ‘Law of Contract’ including the Specific Relief Act, 1963, both published by LexisNexis.

Prof. Gupta is an external expert member of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the Cabinet Secretariat at Rastrapati Bhawan. New Delhi. Earlier she has been an external expert member of ICC at ‘Prasar Bharati’ and Ministry of Women & Child Development (MWCD), GOI. She is also holding the position of Policy Advisor at NLU Delhi advising the University on various issues related to prohibition, prevention and regulation of workplace sexual harassment. 

Prof. Gupta has vast experience of being a resource person and has conducted training programmes/ workshops on Gender Sensitization and ‘Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace’ and Contract Management for Judges, IAS & IRS Officers, DANICS probationers, Doordarshan & All India Radio (AIR) etc. She has presented papers and attended academic events in various countries like Norway, Poland, Singapore, Australia, USA and Srilanka etc.

She is a member of the National Human Rights Commission’s Core Group of Women, Board of Referees of many refereed journals including National Crime Record Bureau Journal and an external expert in the advisory board of NHRC’s Hindi Magazine ‘Nayee Dishayein’. She has reviewed manuscripts for World Development (Elsevier) and Sage etc. She is a member of Executive Committee (EC) of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat and NLUD.

She had been conferred ‘REX Karamveer Global Fellowship and Karamveer Chakra Award’ in March 2015 for her outstanding contribution to women empowerment. She had earlier been selected for the award of doctoral fellowship by Indian Council for Social Sciences and Research (ICSSR), New Delhi and declared 'Ms. Super Brain Super Personality', by Competition Success Review in a National level Competition in 1998.
