NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY DELHI

No.F.14 (7)LA-2007/- The following Act of Legislative Assembly of the National
Capital Territory of Delhi received the assent of the Lt. Governor of Delhi on
the16th January, 2008 and is hereby published for general information:-
“The National Law University, Delhi Act, 2007”

An Act for the establishment of a University by the name of the National
Law University Delhi in the National Capital Territory of Delhi and for
Matters Connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Whereas the committee appointed by the Chief Justice Conference on
Legal Education and Training (1993) has recommended the establishment in
each State of an Institution on the model of the National Law School of India
University at Bangalore;
AND WHEREAS the All India Law Ministers Conference (1995) has resolved
to set up in each State a Law School modeled on the lines of the National Law
School of India University at Bangalore for improving the quality of professional
legal education;
AND WHEREAS it is considered necessary to encourage the establishment
of such a national level Institution of excellence in the field of legal education
and research in the National Capital Territory of Delhi;
AND WHEREAS in furtherance to this object, Government of National
Capital Territory of Delhi and Delhi High Court have taken unto themselves the
complete project of developing the integrated Complex and running the National
Law School at Delhi, for attainment of this object;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to establish the University for the
purpose hereinafter appearing.
BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory
of Delhi in the Fifty- eighth year of the Republic of India as follows:-
