Panel Discussion on ‘Level Playing Field for gig workers: Law and Policy Discourse’ conducted by the Centre for Labour Law Research and Advocacy (CLLRA), and V.V. Giri National Labour Institute, Noida

 

The Panel Discussion took place at the Moot Court Hall, NLUD from 2.45 PM to 5 PM. The Panelists were Dr. Sophy K J, Dr. Sabina Dewan, Ms. Aishwarya Raman, Mr. Sangam Tripathi, Dr. Ruma Ghosh and Dr. Dhanya M.B. Dr. Sophy K J gave the opening remarks as Moderator of the panel discussion on ‘Legal Discourse on Gig Workers in India’ Dr. Dhanya presented on Platform economy and its influence on labour market. Dr. Aishwarya Raman spoke on social protection measures for gig workers from employers lens. Dr. Sabina Dewan brought forth nuances of women’s work in the virtual world. Mr. Sangam Tripathy emphasized the terminology digital platform workers to refer to the gig workers. Dr. Ruma Ghosh referred to global best practices for ensuring social security to gig workers. Dr. Roopa Madhav, Professor, NLUD made the summation to the event. The Panel Discussion was coordinated by Ms. Mansha Siddhu, NLUD. The Panel Discussion brought in rich deliberation on the topic to the maximum comprehension.
