ICC MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2024 – INDIA NATIONAL ROUNDS
Event Report
The 9th edition of the India National Rounds of the IBA ICC Moot Court Competition was successfully conducted in the campus of National Law University Delhi. The three-day event was held from 15 – 17 March 2024 and witnessed the participation of 40 teams from all across the country. The competition hosted 130 participants including speakers, researchers and team coaches and 49 judges.
The inauguration session was presided by Prof. (Dr.) Ruhi Paul, Registrar, National Law University Delhi who delivered the inaugural address. The opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Nimal Padiyath, student coordinator, and Ms. Nishtha Barua and Ms. Diya Jaimon briefed the participating teams on the rules of the competition.
Following the preliminary rounds on 16th March, 15 teams qualified for the Advanced Rounds. The results of the preliminary results were announced by Mr. Anshpreet Singh, student coordinator, at the networking dinner organised at Elate by Drool. The networking dinner witness participation from the teams, the judges, and the members of the organising committee.
The highest scoring teams from each of the 5 advanced rounds that have qualified for International Rounds to be held at The Hague, The Netherlands, are:

Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat
National Law School India University, Bangalore
West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata
Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar
The three highest scoring teams of the five teams that qualified for the International Rounds faced each other in the final round. The bench for judging the final round comprised of Hon’ble Ms. Poonam Bamba, Senior Advocate Dr. G.V. Rao, Ambassador Narinder Singh, Senior Advocate Jayant K. Sud and Professor and Dean Dr. Rashmi Salpekar.
After a tightly-contested round, National Law University Delhi prevailed as the Winners of the India National Rounds. Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat emerged as the First Runners-up and National Law School India University, Bangalore emerged as the Second Runners-up.
Additionally, the Best Memorial was awarded to Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar. Abhimanyu Vyas from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar was adjudged the Best Oralist.
For the valedictory ceremony held on 17 March 2024, Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, National Law University Delhi, delivered the opening remarks. The bench comprising of Hon’ble Ms. Poonam Bamba, Senior Advocate Dr. G.V. Rao, Ambassador Narinder Singh, Senior Advocate Jayant K. Sud and Professor and Dean Dr. Rashmi Salpekar announced the winners and Prof. (Dr.) Ruhi Paul, delivered the vote of thanks.
National Law University Delhi yet again successfully organised and conducted the India National Rounds of the IBA ICC Moot Court Competition. The event has been improving the goodwill and reputation of the University and further association in the future would be appreciable.
