The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) in partnership with the National Law University, Delhi are organizing a judicial dialogue on, ‘Right to Privacy and Advocating for the Human Rights of Disenfranchised Populations’, on 10 February, 2018, in New Delhi. The judicial dialogue aims to examine the linkages between right to privacy in its interaction with contemporary issues, particularly sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sexual characteristics, especially in the South Asian and South East Asian contexts. It endeavours to provide a platform to eminent jurists from Asia to discuss application of the right to privacy doctrine to advance the human rights of disenfranchised communities.
The panellists to the judicial dialogue will comprise of Indian Supreme Court and High Court Judges who have adjudicated on human rights issues, as also lawyers and academics. ICJ Commissioners who are South Asian and South East Asian jurists who have advanced the human rights jurisprudence in their jurisdictions will also participate as panelists. In recognition of the importance of the courts of first instance, the dialogue will also invite several District Court Judges from Delhi.
Participation is by invitation only.
