Dr. Sushila

Assistant Professor

Ph.D., LL.M., LL.B.

Dr. Sushila is Assistant Professor of Law at National Law University, Delhi, currently teaching Consumer Protection Laws and Law of Torts. She specialises in Consumer Protection Laws with her Doctorate & Masters on the Consumer Protection Laws. She has around eleven years of teaching experience.

Dr. Sushila was Seminar Convener for the National Seminar on Consumer Protection: New Age Challenges organised by National Law University Delhi in collaboration with Centre for Consumer Studies, IIPA, New Delhi on February 19-20, 2016.

In November 2014, Dr. Sushila commenced a three-year Major Research Project funded by University Grants Commission on ‘Food Safety & Standards Law: A Study of Enforcement Experience in National Capital Region’. The research seeks to undertake a detailed examination of the regulatory architecture under the new converged system provided under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006 to determine whether the avowed objectives of an integrated food safety and standards law have been attained and, if so, to what extent.

Before joining NLU Delhi in 2009, she was Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Delhi where she taught subjects such as Law relating to Commercial Transactions and Consumer Protection, Partnership Law, Company Law, Law of Property, Rent Control Law, Family Law, Law of Succession, Law of Torts and Code of Civil Procedure (CPC).

Dr. Sushila is also visiting faculty at Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST), Lok Sabha Secretariat, Parliament of India. In August 2012, she was invited as an expert by National Institute of Open Schooling for development of curriculum for introduction of law at Senior Secondary Level, where she contributed in development of the course on ‘An Introduction to Law’ at senior Secondary level.

Dr. Sushila has authored various articles and research papers published in renowned journals, and attended several international and national conferences, seminars, workshops, chaired proceedings and presented papers. She has supervised many LL.M. & LL.B students in writing their dissertations & Projects and has been examiner and question paper setter for various National and State examinations. During 2010-11, she was Faculty Advisor for the Legal Aid Committee at NLU Delhi. At Law Centre-I, University of Delhi, she was a member of the Mooter Society.

Her areas of interest include Consumer Protection Laws, Food Safety & Standards Law, Competition Law & Consumer Welfare, Sexual Harassment Law, Human Rights & Gender Justice, Law of Torts and Interpretation of Statutes.

Previously, she has also taught subjects viz. Law of Property, Legal & Constitutional History, Environment Law, Interpretation of Statutes, Criminal Law, and Administrative Law.
