Dr. Amita Punj

Associate Professor



Amita Punj completed her LL.B. in 1999 and started working for an international NGO on the issues of human rights and social justice while pursuing her LL.M. from Delhi University. On completion of her post graduation in law from the University of Delhi, she pursued specialization in Law in Development from the University of Warwick, U.K. and has been a British Chevening scholar. She has been engaged in research and creation of easily understandable learning material on women’s rights, prisoner’s rights and Human Rights Commissions in India. She has been teaching at National Law University, Delhi for the past six years. In 2011 she was awarded VEWA fellowship for teaching and research in Europe. She has been regularly imparting training on the issues of Right to Development, International Human Rights Law and Women’s Rights. Her areas of interest are human rights, gender justice and jurisprudence.
