Prof. Jagbir Dahiya

Visiting Professor



Professor Jagbir Singh Dahiya has done LL.M from Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra in the year 1981 with spcialization in criminal law. Prior to joining in this university, he had been a research scholar in the Department of Laws’ Maharishi Dayanand University Rohtak (Haryana) from the years January 1982 to January 1984 during which apart from research work ‘he had been teaching Criminology and Criminal Administration ‘Company Law , Indian Partnership Act and Indian Evidence Act to LL.B students.He had contributed several articles in various legal journals. He had got published a book titled “Law of Homicide in India “which is the recommended book for study by LL.M (Criminal Law Group) students in Kurukshetra University.He had joined Himachal Pradesh Judicial Service and served as Sub Judge cum Judicial Magistrate cum Rent Controller at Una from 1.2.1984 to 8.5.1986.He had joined Haryana Civil Service (Judicial Branch) on 9.5.1986.He had worked as Sub Judge cum Judicial Magistrate’ Addl Civil Judge (Senior Division) Chief Judicial Magistrate ‘Civil Judge (Senior Division)and Addl District & Sessions Judge cum Appellate Authority in Haryana from 9.5.1986 to 26.4.2011. He has the vast experience of 27 years being a former judicial officer of the States of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana before he joined in this University to take up the teaching assignment again which he left in the year 1984 to take up his new assignment in Himachal Pradesh Judicial Service.He has attended several workshops, seminars’conferences and training programmes etc at Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration Shimla,Revenue Training College Ambala Cantt, Police Training College Madhuban (Karnal), Chandigarh Judicial Academy ,National Judicial Academy Bhopal and LNJP Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science Rohini New Delhi during his service career. He is an expert of Procedural Laws.

He had also worked as coordinator of the Rajiv Gandhi Advocates Training Scheme initiated by the Ministry of Law  Government of India in collaboration with the National Law University Delhi during June – July 2011. He had  worked as Proctor of the National Law University Delhi during the year 2014.Presently he is also Chief Warden of the University.
