National Conference on Wrongful Prosecution: Rights, Protection and Assistance on Nov. 18, 2017

The K.L. Arora Chair in Criminal Law, Centre for Criminology & Victimology (CCV) in association with Indian Society of Victimology Organized a one day National Conference on Wrongful Prosecution: Rights, Protection and Assistance on 18th November, 2017 at National Law University Delhi. The Conference began with welcome address by Prof.(Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, NLU Delhi. HMJ A.P. Shah, delivered inaugural address on the occasion, addressed by HMJ Mohan Peiris & Prof.(Dr.) B.B. Pande, Distinguished Professor, NLU Delhi.

 

The event was graced by the presence of prominent speakers who actively shared their views. The proceedings of the Conference were devided into Four main technical sessions with each sessions containing 6 - 7 presentations which involved as many as 22 Resource Person focussing on the fields like Wrongful prosecution, Miscarriage of Justice, Human Rights, Law Rights, false criminal offences, Jurisprudence, Victimology, such as Prof.(Dr.) Gerd Kirchoff, O.P.J.G.U., Sonipat, Prof.(Dr.) Arvind Tiwari, TISS, Ms. Vrinda Grover, Sr. Advocate, Mr. Ravi Nair, SAHRDC, Dr. Jyoti Dogra Sod, Associate Professor, ILI Delhi, Dr. Priyamvada, University of Madras, Mr. Vishavjeet Chaudhary, O.P.JGU, Sonipat, Ms. Deepali Vashist, VIPS, Ms. Archana Singh, The NCU, gurugram, Dr. Upma Gautam, Assistant Professor, GGSIPU; and many more.

More than 40 participants including students, research scholars, academicians and law teachers from the reputed institutions across the country and faculty members from NLU Delhi took participation in the conference.

The conference was directed by Prof (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Registrar and Chairman of Centre for criminology & Victimology at National Law University Delhi. The program was coordinated by Mr Sidharth Dahiya, Assistant Registrar (Academics) & Ms. Pratibha Tandon, Research Associate, NLU Delhi.
