Prof. (Dr.) Ghanshyam Singh specializes in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Procedural Laws, Clinical Legal Education, Commercial Laws and Environmental Law. Before joining this University, he served as Professor and Registrar at NALSAR University of Law which is India's premiere Institute of legal education and research. His teaching experience spanning over eighteen years was been drawn upon by the NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, Department of Law, City University of Hong Kong, the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, ICADR, Hyderabad and Haryana Institute of Public Administration. His passion for teaching and research prompted him to leave his lucrative legal practice of twelve years standing and take up full-time teaching. He practices interactive methodology of teaching, which promotes deep understanding and clarity of the concepts with effective and wide participation of the student in the classroom.
He has participated in various National and International Conferences, Seminars, Symposiums and workshops and has contributed research papers. His expertise has been extensively utilized by the various National and International agencies especially in the field of Justice Dispensation and ADR and Environmental Law issues. He has also been invited by organizations like the World Bank and SAARCLAW for their programmes on ADR, Environment and Anti Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism. He has conducted various workshops and training programmes on arbitration and mediation for judicial officers, lawyers, academics, corporate houses and industry.
He has his Ph.D. on "Institutional Alternative Dispute Resolution of International Commercial Disputes in India". He has over two dozen articles and research papers to his credit, which have been well received, and published in various leading Journals. His book "Introduction to ADR and Commercial Disputes" is under publication. He has edited two books - "Human Rights Education, Law and Society" and "Cyber Space and the Law: Issues and Challenges"'. He has done various Research Projects: "A Study of Decline of Shameerpet Lake: ADR Approach", "Legal Assistance Programme for Land", "Study of Sub-National Governance in Schedule V & VI Areas", "Strengthening Environmental Capacity in SAARC Region" and assisted in other Projects like "Judicial Process Review" at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. He was also member of the National Drafting Committee on 'DNA Profiling Bill' constituted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and has been involved in preparing draft legislations for the Government.
