Amita Punj worked with national and international NGOs on the issues of human rights and social justice after completing her undergraduate degree in law. On completion of her postgraduation in law from the University of Delhi, India she pursued specialization in Law in Development from the University of Warwick, U.K. and has been a British Chevening scholar. She has been engaged in research and creation of easily understandable learning material on women’s rights, prisoner’s rights and Human Rights Commissions in India. She has also contributed a number of articles in different journals. Her areas of interest are human rights, gender justice and jurisprudence. As part of her doctoral research she is studying the Impact of Special Economic Zones on Livelihood and Labour Rights, with specific reference to the National Capital Territory.
